I love good soup and this place definitely has some. The choices of the day were smoked salmon, split pea and hearty chicken noodle and they all looked good. We got the smoked salmon apparently a must try and split pea. It comes with a beautiful little slice of soft focaccia bread, which is a nice touch. The split pea was DELICIOUS. Usually with these pea soups they get really salty and mushy but this one was neither. The smoked salmon has a really smoky taste to it, with nice chunks of salmon.

They must add a little liquid smoke to it to get the flavor, so be warned of you're not a fan of smoke. Remember to bring cash. Also nice selection of bagged soups that you can take home with you: Overall, really great soups, perfect for a rainy vancouver day!

This little place is located inside the Public Market on Granville Island! They only serve soup. However I did not like that they only serve three soups a day. When we went they had: Minestrone, white bean and chorizo chili, and New York Clam Chowder. I really wanted to try the beef one. We ordered one white bean chili and one clam chowder. The white bean chili was too heavy. I imagined that the chorizo would be in chunks but no it was grounded up in the soup and There was a lot of it.

It was way to stocky to be a soup and I get that it was suppose to be a chili but it was just too thick. The clam chowder was red not white which I was surprised by. One thing I did fall in love with was the bread they give you to have with your soup. It was so fluffy and flavorful. The seasoning on the crust was delicious. Hearty soups and stews, perfect for cold, rainy days.

Three featured soups per day are served for dining in, with more available in bulk or frozen for taking home. I love how you can purchase their gravies to make holiday dinners easier or a regular weeknight more special. The smoked salmon soup was thick and meaty, perfect for eating in the chill off the water. Wish the bread was warmed and served with butter to be better enjoyed, but it adequately serves the intended purpose of complementing the soup.

Location is convenient to the small indoor dining area. Staff are polite and will give samples on request. They do one meat, one fish, and one vegetable soup per day. I'd use this spot more for taking home dinner than grabbing a meal on-site, personally. The broccoli and cheese soup here is so good! It's totally unlike the American kind which is really a bowl of fake melted cheese.

This one is mostly broccoli and rice with a hint of cheese. It wasn't salted enough when we got it but there was some Himalayan habanero salt at the counter and it did wonders for the soup.

Also, it comes with a piece of focaccia that's perfect for dipping. What a treat when the weather is "Vancouver Average", as in wet n windy.

Great soups and stocks and a fantastic way to warm up after walking around in the wind and rain. This Granville Island Public Market stall sells a lot of soups and stocks to prepare at home, but also features a few ready-to-eat soups. I selected the WINTER VEGETABLE QUINOA soup to supplement the savory meaty pies we got at Laurelle's Fine Foods.

Like others have remarked, these soups are packed which made me so happy. Also, it was nice and hot. It came with a side of focaccia bread which I didn't eat because we had so much food already. Let's face it, Granville Island is a bit of a tourist trap; similar to Pier 39 in San Francisco with similar quality, overpriced food and similar to Pike's Place in Seattle less options for food, and even more of a tourist trap.

But coming to Vancouver and not visiting Granville Island would be like visiting Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower. Most of the food here looks like a mall food court: Chinese food, pizza, sandwiches, etc. After having eaten way too much the day prior, we wanted something on the lighter side for lunch and stumbled across this soup place.

The weather was a bit grey and chilly which made this soup place look even more appealing. They had 3 flavors of soup when I went: It's okay, but nothing I would necessarily say is a "must-eat" bread.

Neither of the soups were overly salty, and they had good flavor. My boyfriend liked the moroccan lamb soup better, and I liked the salmon chowder better he thought it was too fishy for his taste which seems obvious since it's made with fish. I was glad the salmon chowder wasn't made with heavy cream, so it was still fairly light in texture and healthier than a bisque.

If you're starving and really feel like you want to eat on Granville Island, then this is a decent choice, but I think you're better off leaving this kind-of-tourist-trap and eat elsewhere.

A little pricey for a small cup of soup, but it's a nice option to have if you're feeling slightly under the weather. They only have 3 soup options a day. I highly recommend the Thai Chicken soup, which was incredibly aromatic as it was flavorful. Hints of ginger and lime, and full of vegs and chicken. It came with a side of foccacia bread, which was fluffy but kind of bland.

We came here for a quick bite while we explored the rest of the island. They offer 3 soups to eat hot in addition to the tons of cold soups they have stocked to take home.

On the day we visited, they had a smoked salmon soup and a Malaysian butternut squash soup and a veggie option soup, forgot what it was. We were debating heavily between the salmon and butternut squash soups and they gave us small tasters which was super nice, and helpful! Ended up going with the Malaysian butternut squash soup, slightly sweet from the squash, lots of ginger, and hint of lime.

Soups come with two slices of focaccia bread which was delicious by itself. The large soup size is LARGE, could hardly finish it between the two of us.

Only downside is that they don't really take credit card, but soups are great! I was looking forward to some hearty soups from reading all the yelp reviews about Stock Market as we drove to the Grandville Island Market. I came hungry and ordered the chicken noodle soup and the salmon chowder and was very disappointed with both. The chowder here does measure up the Pike's Place Chowder in Seattle at all. If you had chowders at Pike's Place Chowder, there is no way you would rate this place more than a stars.

It's not creamy and lack flavors. The chicken noodle soup was packed with good amount of noodles and vegetable, but again, it lacks flavors and was so bland. I actually had better chicken noodle soup in some supermarkets. Not a fan of the oyster chowder- it lacked substance, tasted watered down and lacked the milky punch I'd expect from a chowder. I'd recommend sampling their selections before purchasing.

I've been meaning to try some of the Stock Market's soup for many years now but never got a chance to because I was always stuffed with other things. I came by Granville last week and finally came on an empty stomach and I was starving for some soup.

My family and I ordered the Clam Chowder small and large and the Aztec Bean large soup. Looks like their menu always changed based on their season and catch-of-the-day so I think this is where everyone's opinions will vary about the soup. In my honest opinion, I think I had WAY too high expectations for this soup. It smells SO GOOD from across the market and the flavor just doesn't deliver in either of the soups that I tried. First off, the clam chowder is SO thin and bland like water rather than a rich and creamy chowder.

There's a ton of LEEK in it but NOT clams! My boyfriend said that it tasted much more like leek chowder because that's essentially all we got.

The clam chowder in Pike Place Market if anyone goes to Seattle is far superior, or even if you go to the market in North Vancouver, you'll get a better deal. The Aztec Bean soup was equally as disappointing, but even more so for my sister who is vegan and makes bean soup at home herself.

You know it's bad when you say that you can make better stuff at home It was flavorless, bland and had a lot of pumpkin in it which made it sweet but doesn't match your expectations of a BEAN soup.

I neither enjoyed my meal nor the service because the guy scooping for me looked like he was so miserable to be at work. The soups come with a huge slice of bread which is a plus Such a shame because I really had such high hopes for a place that specializes in soup. Please learn to add some salt, pepper or seasoning in general. I had been a weekly customer until about 8 months ago when I moved out of Van for a while.

Upon returning to Van, I headed back to this place. First, I was there mid-week at the lunch hour and there was no line-up, at all. Second, I ordered two Salmon soup large and an extra bread. The soup had virtually NO salmon pieces in either soup order. Massive difference from before. Third, the bread pieces were SMALL - about half of what I recall. I then realized I had been given edge pieces I asked for a middle piece paid extra and it was still smaller than what I recall.

Fourth, when I asked about the issues, I was given the bum-rush. Bad experience and I may try again next Spring. There are much better options now, given the deterioration of quality and service. The Salmon soup has a strange flavor which I could identify and could not stomach. There was a selection of soup from chowders to bisques. I picked the chicken soup based off the recommendation of the cashier, and it really hit the spot along with the side of focaccia bread.

I fought the urge to revisit and get more soup since there was much more to try in Granville, but I would definitely consider going back. I was asked the question when I ordered. I believe there are employee discounts for those that work at Granville I said that I wasn't working there, but man was I tempted to say otherwise. Not sure what the discount is, but it's just something to note.

You could abuse it, but then you would have to live with that guilt, you monster. We had a chai chicken soup, which is the soup of the day. It's always nice to have a hot soup on a semi chilly day. The soup is very flavourful and has lots of ingredients. They make their own soups in the premises with fresh products you can also see them fixing their wonderful soups to either eat there or to take home. Their varieties are amazing you can not go wrong with any of the choices.

Oh and they freeze well too. Amazingly yummy ENJOY your choice! Our favourite soup place in Vancouver! None of that Campbell canned stuff! They have a variety of different soups but always 3 to choose from for eating in veggie, meat, fish , served with a side of focaccia bread.

There are also soups to take home which come in convenient resealable bags as well as frozen ones at a cheaper price. You can also buy soup stock of all types. There's also a bunch of sauces and dips but I'm really just here for the soup! I dropped my spoon and asked for a new one, the staff said "SAY PLEASE". Ha, if he works in a diner I think he won't be tipped by saying that. I used to come here for take away soup when I worked close the Island. Warning, you must consume these soups within a week at least.

Since there are no preservatives and is all natural they should be treated like regular home made stock in terms of freshness.
