Hi guys I am very new, so please excuse my seemingly silly questions. I stared forex trading a few days ago only to learn that I need to be certified in AB. Could anyone help me out on this? I know there must be a number of people who trade on online platforms. Also is day trading through a broker on stocks or commodities allowed?

Hi Clarence, I use Pepperstone in Australia as my main broker. I also have an account with Alpari. Australian and UK brokers are better than those in other due to regulations. This is just my opinion. Yes you can daytrade in canadian and US Equities. Interactive brokers set it up now so there is no need to adhere to the US patter day trading rule.

You can trade commodities futures with some US firms. AMP is the one I use. Competitive commissions and minimum to open an account. Check with the futures firm to make sure you can open accounts with them. Certified is not the corret word it is accredited but this only applies to spot forex trading or CFD's bets on other things like gold , siler , Nat Gas.. If you have a pulse and are over 18 you shuuld have no problem opening a futures account.

Check with the futures firm to see if they accept accounts from Alberta. Other option is to open an account offshore with a broker like one mentioned or my personal choice AvaTrade. I like them for a few reasons, but one good one is they have multiple licenses in multiple countries like Japan, Ireland, Australia, and others. They are open to clients from anywhere except the US.

They are also one of the largest brokers around, on par even with large bank brokers like Saxo Bank. Thanks fo the info on these 2 forex brokers. Peperstone has an ECN otion where you pay a commission and get lower spreads. AvaTrade offers more markets like nat gas and indexes.

Also Ava trade has an option trading platform. You can even trade bitcoin! Both use the metatrader 4 platform which is a nice platform. Perhaps we could demonstrate metatrader 4 in one of our meetings. Sad times for Albertans when Alberta securities Commission dictates what we can or can not trade.
